Gogebic Range Bank Has Officially Become a Part of Zeal Credit Union, Expanding Statewide Presence in Michigan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/12\/2026 | <\/strong>Zeal Credit Union (\u201cZeal\u201d) of Livonia, MI, announced today that it has successfully completed the acquisition of Gogebic Range Bank following receipt of all required regulatory approvals. Effective January 1, 2026, Gogebic Range Bank officially became Zeal Credit Union, marking a significant milestone in Zeal\u2019s strategic growth across Michigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transaction brought together two Michigan-based financial institutions with a shared commitment to community, personalized service, and long-term financial well-being of the communities they serve. Zeal now holds over $1 billion in assets and will have an expanded footprint in Northern Michigan to better serve members with a total of 17 branches. Zeal has retained all the employees and all branches while investing in the local communities formerly served by Gogebic Range Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zeal announces intention to acquire The Miners State Bank to expand financial access further across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/8\/2026 |<\/strong> Zeal Credit Union (\u201cZeal\u201d) of Livonia, MI, and The Miners State Bank of Iron River, MI alongside its bank holding company, MSB Bankshares, Inc., jointly announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement whereby Zeal Credit Union will purchase substantially all of the assets and liabilities of The Miners State Bank in an all-cash transaction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the agreement is contingent on obtaining regulatory and MSB stockholder approvals, the proposed transaction has been approved by both institutions’ Board of Directors. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the fourth quarter of 2026. Following the completion of the transaction, The Miners State Bank will liquidate and distribute their remaining assets to its stockholders. When the purchase is complete, Zeal will have greater than $1.1 billion in assets and will have an expanded footprint in Michigan\u2019s Upper Peninsula to better serve members with a total of 22 branches. At this time, Zeal is expected to keep predominately all the employees and all branches while investing in the local communities served by The Miners State Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zeal Adopts 5 Families During the 2025 Holiday Season<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/8\/2026<\/strong> | <\/strong>Last month, Zeal Credit Union was fortunate to continue our 4+ year tradition adopting families for the holidays through The Guidance Center’s Adopt-A-Family Initiative<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Zeal team shopped, wrapped, and donated gifts and necessities to make the season bright for five Michigan families, from hard working single parent families to a grandmother and her eight loving grandkids. Our team was able to provide everything on their wish lists, including household necessities (bedding and towels), personal items (clothing, shoes, hair care products), activities for the whole family (boardgames and sports equipment), and even a dining table with chairs so one family could enjoy sharing meals together!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are excited to continue this tradition in 2026 and beyond, continuing to grow our partnership with The Guidance Center and the meaningful work they provide to community members year-round. Patty Johnson Advances to New Role as AVP-HR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/7\/2026 | <\/strong>Zeal Credit Union is excited and very proud to announce the promotion of Patty Johnson from Manager, Human Resources to Assistant Vice President (AVP), Human Resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patty began her journey with Zeal in 1999, proving herself through hard work in multiple locations, including Zeal\u2019s Contact Center and branches. During her time as Branch Manager, Patty consistently went above and beyond for her fellow team members, creating a curriculum for the development of her fellow branch employees. As a result of her passion for developing talent, Patty then became Zeal\u2019s Manager of Training and Development, ultimately leading to her continued development into a broader HR role, becoming Manager of the HR Department. In this role, she continued to oversee the leadership development process in addition to taking on all other HR management responsibilities to ensure that all team members were given the opportunity to learn, grow, and ask questions \u2013 providing a solid foundation for their work moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This well-earned promotion from HR Manager to AVP-HR is a result of Patty\u2019s unwavering dedication to the development of skills for not only herself, but everyone around her. Patty\u2019s dedication to Zeal\u2019s core values of character, empathy, and passion are demonstrated every day in her work and in all interactions with fellow team members across the organization throughout her 25 years of dedicated service to Zeal Credit Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After beginning her credit union career as a teller in 1998, Colleen has worked her way up the financial industry ladder with a smile, loads of great ideas, and an unwavering dedication to lead by example. During her credit union tenure, she has held the positions of Branch Supervisor, Assistant Branch Manager, Branch Manager, Regional Manager, Director, AVP, and then VP of Member Experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After joining Zeal Credit Union in June of 2019, Colleen has continued showcasing her leadership skills through transformative initiatives and credit union advocacy that positively impacts both members and the community on both a state and federal level. Dearborn and Detroit Branch Managers, Khalil and Mike, passed out candy to trick-or-treaters and talked with parents about how Zeal’s products and services are available for savers of all ages. Last Saturday, the Woodhaven branch team hosted a free community shred event and canned food drive. Members and the community were able to have their confidential documents securely shredded on-site – helping to mitigate opportunities for identity theft and fraud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with the environmental and informational security impact, this event also saw a generous flood of donations – all of which were brought to Honeycomb Food Pantry in Allen Park, MI, a nonprofit working to eliminate food deserts in South-East Michigan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you so much for all volunteers and participants for taking part in this event – we look forward to hosting many more in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

All non-perishable food items and household supplies donated have been brought to CARES of Farmington Hills, a food pantry servicing 8 local communities, and will be distributed to those in need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 23rd, events kicked off with the financial education webinar, “Understanding Credit Reports & Scores<\/strong>.” Participants learned where to obtain a credit report, how to read the report itself, and tactics to help raise or repair credit scores from Zeal’s Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC), Tiffany Sweet. On April 29th, the Financial Huddle team met in person for “Investing in a Volatile Market<\/strong>,” a seminar hosted at Zeal’s HQ and presented by Jon Lybeck (CRPC) and Herman Moore. Participants were excited to learn more about investing and retirement, along with the opportunity to meet legendary all-pro Herman Moore, and win TFH giveaways and signed Moore memorabilia. Finally, TFH wrapped up the first group of events with the April 30th webinar “Homebuying & Mortgage Process 101<\/strong>,” presented by Keri Marentette of The Mortgage Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants shared in the viewing of the 2024 Hardworking Americans campaign videos, a dive into the Zeal Day of Service at Gleaners Food Bank, and were treated to reports by Chairman of the Board, Michael O’Hehir, and CEO\/President of Zeal CU, Julie Kreinbring. The 2025 Scholarship Recipients were announced as well, celebrating the seven bright high school seniors who each received $2,000 toward their higher-education aspirations. Finally, the Nomination Committee voted by acclamation to reinstate both incumbent nominees, Sharon Wright and Karen Rawls, for another term on the Board of Directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zeal Team Attends Mumford High School Senior Fair<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ZEAL\u2665DAYZE Give the Love<\/em> Holiday Gathering & Charitable Event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12\/6\/24 | <\/strong>The 2024 third annual Give the Love <\/strong>charitable giving event was held on Friday, December 6th<\/sup> and generated thousands of dollars in donations to support five local families who might otherwise have gone without gifts this holiday season. Partnering with The Guidance Center of Wayne County and their Adopt a Family<\/em> holiday program, Zeal provided gifts in the form of home goods, toys, clothing, hygienic necessities, and more, to 18 individuals: 5 adults and 13 children (ages 2-16).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From winter coats to shoes and socks, bath towels and pillows to cleaning supplies, 18 Michiganders will wake up Christmas morning excited due to the amazing support of Zeal Credit Union, our passionate employees, and the sponsors who made this event possible. In the last three years, Zeal\u2019s contribution to the Adopt a Family<\/em> program has impacted 15 families by providing gifts and necessities during the holiday season. Thank you again to all of Santa\u2019s helpers for helping us spread holiday joy throughout Michigan with the third annual Give the Love event!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Toys for Tots Collection Drive<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12\/6\/24 | <\/strong>Between November 13 and December 6, Zeal Credit Union participated in a Toys for Tots collection drive. Toys for Tots is a national organization that spearheads annual toy collection and distribution campaigns, along with other year-round charitable initiatives for families who could use extra assistance in difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zeal provided collection boxes in each branch location, as well as the corporate headquarters. Staff and community members alike donated new, unwrapped toys for families who might otherwise not have the funds or access to purchase toys for their little ones this holiday season. From boardgames to plushies, dolls to action figures, the passionate and charitable individuals in our community stepped up big time. Thanks to their generosity, over a dozen collection boxes were filled with new toys so no child will be without a gift this Christmas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

11\/29\/24 | <\/strong>The Southgate Zeal Credit Union team went above and beyond for the community this Thanksgiving as they delivered Thanksgiving turkeys and sides\u2014along with Zeal\u2019s sincere gratitude for veterans and this special organization who serves them\u2014to Downriver for Veterans. Downriver for Veterans is a nonprofit organization that supports veterans in Southeast Michigan by providing emergency funds, food, household necessities, and even pet food in times of hardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Detroit Branch Grand Opening<\/strong>
